Real Monarch Butterfly Wings in Texas Flower Garden

$145.00
Sold Out

This piece is very special to me and contains a beautifully intact Monarch (wings only) that we found near our porch during their migration this year. I thought I would honor it by surrounding it with various Texas flowers and grasses. The piece is double sided clear glass, hand cut and soldered together. The background is black velvet, and the back of the piece is also velvet so it won’t harm your wall. It hangs from a stainless steel chain. The decorative border is carefully beaded and stained with a black patina before being polished to a shine.

At the top are Salsify seed heads. The abdomen and antennae of the butterfly are bits of flowers and grass. Below are all the flowers I pressed and included. Almost, but not all, are from our garden.

Mimosa bloom, Indian Paintbrush, Yarrow, Sweet Clover, Firewheels, Black Eyed Susans, Smartweed, Queen Anne’s Lace, wild carrot blooms, wild grasses, Lemon Bee Balm, Asters, Blue Mistflower, Baldwin’s Ironweed, Turk’s Cap, a large Daisy, Balloon vine flowers, young Salvia, Blazing Star, and yellow prairie mimosa.

It is 11.8”H and 8”W and somewhat heavy because it is double paned.

**Please do not submerge in water, but instead wipe clean with a damp cloth

**Flowers will fade in direct sunlight - please hang in indirect light.
